Grenade attack on police in Jammu’s Samba district, no damage reported

Jammu, May 12 (BNP): Panic gripped Nud area of Jammu’s Samba district after a grenade was hurled at a police party on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, police said.
A police official told news agency—Baramulla News Point agency (BNP), an explosion took place in the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday and later it was found that a grenade was hurled towards police naka at Nud area on Samba-Mansar road.“Grenade missed the target and exploded on the road while as no damage took place,” the official said. He said that searches are going on in the area.

Covid-19: 35 more deaths reported in J&K, toll crosses 2400 Mark

Srinagar, May 3 (BNP): Jammu and Kashmir reported at least 35 more covid-19 related deaths since last evening and among victims two were aged 25 and 35 years respectively, officials said on Monday.

They said 24 deaths were reported from Jammu division and twenty persons succumbed at GMC Jammu while two fatalities each were reported at CD hospital and Gandhi Nagar.
Eleven other deaths took place in Kashmir Valley, taking the overall fatality count to 2405 and over four hundred deaths were reported in little over a month since April 1 alone.

An official told GNS that a 77-year-old woman from Kelam Kulgam died at district hospital Kulgam, a day after she was admitted thereA 58-year-old woman from Hamdaniya Colony Bemina died at SMHS hospital, 11 days after she was admitted at the facility and tested positive for the virus.
A 55-year-old man from Sanat Nagar Srinagar died at JVC hospital, a day after he was admitted at the one of the facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients.

An 80-year-old man from Rawalpora Srinagar was brought to SMHS where doctors declared him brought dead and he tested positive for covid-19
A 55-year-old man from Safakadial Srinagar, died four days after he was admitted to SKIMS Soura, they said.

Man allegedly commits suicide in Shopian village, police starts investigation

Shopian, May 02 (KNO): A 40-year-old man on Sunday allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his home in Pinjura village of South Kashmir's Shopian district. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (BNP) that he was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.He said that after the completion of medical and legal formalities, the body will be handed over to the family members for last rites.Locals said that he is survived by two minor children and wife. Meanwhile, a police official said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in this regard and further investigation has been initiated—(BNP)

Stray dogs bite trio including a baby in North Kashmir’s Bandipora

Bandipora, May 1, KNT: Three people including a four year-old baby were bitten by stray dogs on Saturday in Garoora area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, creating panic among the locals especially children and elderly people. Sources told KNT a baby, a kid and a man were bitten by stray dogs doubling the fears among locals amid Covid-19 pandemic. The victims have been identified as 38 year old Farooq Ahmad Lone, 10 year old Zeeshan Hamid Dar and 4 year old baby Rafia Masood Mir, all residents of Garoora village. Local sources said that the victims were shifted to hospitals but were advised to stay at their respective homes, after treatment with vaccines, due to the risk of novel coronavirus infection in hospitals. An alarming rise of dog-bite incidents are being reported across Valley with a common complaint about non-seriousness of the authorities to mitigate their problems. Recently, a kid was mauled to death by stray dogs in Southern Pulwama district. (BNP)
